Burbage Police Weekly Update. Rogue Traders, Anti-social Behaviour And More Arrests.

Hello Resident,

We hope you are well. Here is an update regarding crime and Police activity in Burbage this week.

Reported Crime and Appeals

We have received communication from residents regarding a persistent door to door salesman. It appears the person is offering driveway cleaning services. It is worth being aware of all types of door-to-door sales/services, as often during the nicer weather, these types of incidents increase. This may involve selling products or offering garden/home repair services. If you need repairs or services, please speak to family/friends or look for reputable businesses. There is some good advice regarding door-to-door sales here Door-to-door sales fraud | Action Fraud . If you feel threatened or persistently targeted by individuals, please call 999 or 101.

We have attended a report where concerns have been raised around youths trying to start fires, damaging boundary fence and causing a general mess to the path, from Sketchley Grange down to Sketchley Brook (back of the industrial estate). We have spoken to youths and parents. It appears the suspects may be older children, perhaps 15-17yrs old. We will be completing patrols in this area but ask that if you have any teenage children, please have a word if they attend this location. Please remember that this area is fairly secluded. We ask that children remember our “stranger danger” advice. More information can be found here for any of you with younger children, that may be going out without parental supervision over the school holidays. Crime prevention - North West Leicestershire District Council

Report of a lorry hitting the bridge on Watling Street at 10:00 on the 7th of August. Police attended and the driver has been reported.

Since our last update, Police have received 21 calls, 6 were emergency and 8 were priority calls. The majority of these calls related to concern for safety and domestic related issues

Patrols, Police Activity and local engagement

At the end of July, we received a report of a Mazda being stolen from Burbage Road (near Elm Tree Drive/Brookside junction). As a result, the vehicle has been seized and two people arrested. The incident happened on the 30/07/2025 at around 17:00-17:15. If you have any CCTV of the incident, please get in touch. 25000448668

This week has been busy in relation to neighbour disputes/anti-social behaviour. These types of reports are resource intensive, and we are currently working with HBBC to take action where appropriate and complete safeguarding work if needed. Whilst out and about completing patrols, we have also spoken to residents and had some very nice/productive conversations.

Crime prevention and issues to be aware of

Several months ago, we had concerns raised around vans on the Three Pots Estate, where drivers would attend the area around 0600. The driver would get out, open/shut the door and then drive off. This raised concerns around potential crime in the area. Following some work, it was identified these vans/drivers were completing time/route checks. It appears this activity has moved to other parts of Burbage and has again caused some local concern. Whilst this activity appears legitimate from what we found previously, if you do have increased concerns, please contact Police at the time if you suspect there is a crime in progress. A vehicle registration would be very useful if/when calling it in to Police.

Our next beat surgery will be on Saturday 23rd of August from around 15:00 – 17:00 at the Co-op on Boyslade Road

Thank you and take care.
